Claptonite - Tribute to a Legend
| Claptonite are a four piece band who cover the music of Eric Clapton from the Cream days to the present time.
Claptonite
are passionate about the music and thoroughly enjoy playing - a feeling which is instantly communicated to their live audiences.
Claptonite will play anywhere in the country, and are shortly to embark on a mini-tour to Europe. Gigs can be anything from
a one hour spot of selected highlights to a full theatre concert with a support act. The band are also available for private
functions.
Highlights of their gigs are the Cream rock tracks Sunshine of Your Love, Badge and White Room. The original
Layla from Derek and the Dominoes is included, as is the acoustic version in the unplugged set. Well-known ballads such as
Wonderful Tonight and Tears in Heaven are played alongside classic old blues tracks covered by Clapton. Popular tracks from
the revival of Clapton's career in the 80's include Bad Love and Forever Man.
Alan Earp Lead Vocals and Guitar
|
Alan has been playing guitar since he was a young lad in the early 60's. He has since played with many of the household
names from the 60's and 70's. While Alan would never presume to be Eric Clapton, he was nevertheless persuaded to front Claptonite
following many comments over the years on his playing style and ability and his natural resemblance to the man himself. Although
on a recent trip to the USA, he was stopped several times a day by people thinking he was Chuck Norris!!!
|
Rod was lead vocalist and keyboards with early 70's Polydor recording
band "Aubrey Small" who were managed by Ronnie Scott's and made countless Radio 1 sessions for John Peel and Bob Harris. He
has been mentioned in books by both DJ's, with Bob recalling in "The Whispering Years" that Rod was the spitting image of
Paul McCartney. How cruel the ravages of time have been!

 Gary Browne Bass |
New bassist Gary is the baby of the band, and is the "real" musician
as he not only plays bass and guitar, but having gained a "Rock School" diploma, his talents as a teacher are very much in
demand as well. He has played with various local rock bands and jazz/funk bands and we are extremely pleased that he has recently
brought his playing talents to Claptonite.
|
Paul is also a radio presenter (known as Paul Anthony). He was originally
on radio Victory in the '80's, MaxFM in the 90's and can currently be heard on the Brighton based Skywave Radio.com, which
due to being broadcast over the Internet, has a wide audience in the US. He has also played with many household names, often
alongside Alan.
